FAQ

How old do I need to be to legally possess a firearm?

According to the provisions of the Gun Control Act of 1968, it is specified that individuals under the age of 18 cannot purchase rifles, shotguns, or corresponding ammunition, while those under 21 cannot buy handguns or corresponding ammunition.

Do you thread barrels?

Yes, we exclusively thread rifle barrels. However, we typically avoid threading most rimfire barrels because of the extractor placement.

What is the minimum barrel length of a rifle or shotgun in the United States without

obtaining permits, licenses, or tax stamps from the ATF?

o The minimum barrel length of a rifle is 16” for non-Short Barreled Rifles.

o The minimum barrel length of a shotgun is 18” for non-Short Barreled Shotguns.

What is the difference between suppressor and silencer?

The ATF/NFA employs the term "silencer" while the general public frequently utilizes the term "suppressor", but they are the same thing.

Are silencers/suppressors legal?

They are legal in 42 states, but owners are responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant state and local laws. Suppressors fall under the regulation of the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934, overseen by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). To lawfully acquire or possess a suppressor, you must:

o You must be at least 21-year-old to purchase a silencer from a licensed dealer.

o You must be at least 18-year-old to purchase a silencer from an individual.

o You must be at least 18 years old to possess a silencer as part of a trust or corporation.

o You must be a resident of the United States.

o You must be legally eligible to purchase a firearm.

o You must pass the federal background check.

o You must pay the $200 for your tax stamp and each silencer must have it’s own tax stamp.

o You must reside in one of the 42 states that currently allows civilian ownership of suppressors. Suppressors are illegal to purchase and use in California, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
